Her training started at the age of three when she began taking dance lessons. At seven, she started attending acting workshops and taking private vocal lessons with Brad Zimmerman at Chestnut Fine Arts. At nine, she auditioned for her first main stage musical, The Wizard of Oz, with Christian Youth Theater (CYT). Over the years, she participated in numerous productions including Annie, The Lion the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sleeping Beauty, Charlotte's Web, Scrooge, Tom Sawyer, and The Little Princess. Later on, she participated in musicals at the Culture House including The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Sleeping Beauty, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph, and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rainmaker, and Every Little Crook and Nanny.
At the age of 14, Kaylee felt that Jesus had spoken to her heart, revealing that her calling and purpose in life was to raise up a generation of students who glorified HIM through their talents and giftings. This inspired her to pursue her dream of becoming the best director. She was accepted into the Artistic Developmental Program (ADP) at The Culture House, where she trained under experienced instructors such as Craig Benton (Stout), Danon Park, Jeremiah Enna, Kelly Reitmeier, Christiane Lisabe, and Marc Wayne.
During high school, Kaylee was a part of the Progressive 4-H club, where she won 1st place in Voice, Swing Dance, and Line Dance for three years in a row. She also led two teams to the regional dance competition, winning 1st and 3rd place. In her Junior and Senior years of high school, she choreographed several children’s touring groups and directed all the productions at Crosspoint Assembly in Paola.
While attending Oral Roberts University, Kaylee was the Stage Manager for numerous productions, including Picnic, Hello Dolly, Much Ado About Nothing, South Pacific, Little Women, Star-Spangled Girl, and Tintypes a Historical Review. She also Directed The Glass Menagerie and Amahl and the Night Visitors. Kaylee studied under Courtneay Sanders, Laura Holland, Dafne Basave-Mead, Wesley Brainerd, and Leslie Jennings. After completing her studies, Kaylee became the Theater Director at The Landing church in Glenpool, Oklahoma, for five years. In 2016, she returned to the KC area and started teaching Acting Classes, Vocal Lessons, and Musical Theater. She was a part of 22 different musicals, working on artistic teams from Christian Youth Theater, Inspired Purpose, Trailridge Middle School, The Daniel Academy, and Crosspoint Churches (Paola and Shawnee).
Kaylee is extremely passionate about teaching Musical Theater and offering Vocal Lessons. She plans to teach students of all levels, from ages 4-18, and share her experiences and knowledge with them. Kaylee believes that participating in Theater builds confidence on and off the stage, and she is excited to watch every student grow in their talents and giftings. Kaylee and her husband, James, just celebrated their 4-year anniversary in January 2024. Their firstborn son, TJ, was born May 5, 2024. They live in Spring Hill with their dog Lady!
